Kathleen Y. Richardson is suing Evangel Assembly of Alton claiming she tripped on two pieces of loose carpet and "fell to the floor."

Richardson claims Evangel Assembly of Alton failed to properly supervise its staff in maintaining carpet on the floors of the church building located at 519 Spring St. in Alton.

Seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages, Richardson claims she sustained serious, permanent, painful and disabling injuries, requiring medical care at substantial cost.

According to the suit filed Aug. 25 in Madison County Circuit Court, the incident took place Aug. 19, 2007.

Richardson also claims the church is negligent for placing two pieces of carpet together on the floor, "forming an uneven border in a pedestrian area of the premises."

She is represented by Timothy F. Campbell of Campbell & McGrady of Godfrey.
